Low Profile Dock Lifts for Data Centers

Data Center Low-Profile Speed-Lifts

Project Summary

Customer needed to eliminate slow, unreliable scissor lifts.

Title : Replacing “Scissor” lifts at Data Centers

Customer : Major Data Centers

Category : Data Centers

Material Handling Challenge

We were approached by a national data center company.  In three of their locations they had installed 30 “scissor” lifts over the previous 5-7 years to transfer their large server racks and pallets between varying elevations of buildings throughout the campus.  These were located outside and were in very poor condition. Also, employees were not allowed to ride on a “scissor” lift.  They needed a solution that was more robust, safer, and reliable.  The lift also had to be very low-profile, surface-mounted, and be installed in areas with challenging access.

Our Solution

After visting all of the sites, we worked with their facility managers to develop suitable Speed-Lift configurations and a replacement plan.   We developed an extremely low-profile (1.25″), compact, and modular version of the MyDock Speed-Lift that could be installed in tight spaces reachable only via narrow walkways.

Project Result

After installing 15 Modular Speed-Lifts at 3 sites, the customer and those operating the lifts have been very impressed with how robust, smooth, fast, and safe their new Speed-Lifts are.  Employees are even riding the lift with the load, eliminating a step in their process.  With proper maintenance, these lifts should last 25+ years.
